Cooking Matters Celebration

HHBGC East Middle School Unit members participate in Cooking Matters for Teens program.
On Monday, May 9, ten East Middle
HHBGC members completed their cooking and nutrition courses through the Cooking
Matters for Teens program. The six week program teaches teens how to make
healthy food choices and prepare healthy meals and snacks. Nearly 75% of
graduates are proud to say they eat more fruit and 54% said they eat more
vegetables after taking the course. The group also took a field trip to Shop N
Save to purchase the food for their final presentation.
The final presentation was a
cooking contest that included the following categories: Most Nutritious,
Best Presentation, Top Taste and Most Creative. Judges included Site Coordinator, Marvin
Crumer, parent, Theresa Perry, and East Middle staff member, Dawn Boyd. The food was
fantastic!
