The Club honored Mary Ann Lee and Emerson with a thank you reception on Tuesday, June 7 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club - Sportsman’s Park Unit.
Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club is pleased to announce a generous gift from Mary Ann Lee to establish the E. Desmond and Mary Ann Lee Education and Career Development Program Fund. Education and Career Development programs at the Club address the educational needs of more than 4,500 Club kids each year. After-school homework labs, one-on-one tutoring, computer instruction and technology, and career planning and job readiness are all part of the comprehensive youth development approach employed by the Club. Emerson is donating $500,000 towards the endowment that will be used for technology programs for teen Club members. These programs enable youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.
“These generous donations from both Mary Ann and Emerson will help to ensure the long term financial stability of Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club and enhance our ability to provide a safe place for kids to learn and grow,” said Dr. Flint W. Fowler, President. The Club honored Emerson and Lee with a thank you reception on Tuesday, June 7 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club - Sportsman’s Park Unit (2901 N. Grand Avenue St. Louis, MO 63107). 100 guests and staff were in attendance at the event. Both honorees were presented with their awards by Matthew Stewart, 2011 Missouri State Youth of the Year.
