The McDonald’s Academic Excellence Award is a one-time scholarship for college awarded to high school seniors. McDonald’s St. Louis/Metro East will be awarding over $25,000 in scholarships for college. See the guidelines below, and submit your application for consideration of a scholarship.
1. African-American students in their senior year attending a St. Louis/Metro
East area high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Special consideration
will be made for students with a GPA of 2.8 and 2.9.
2. Students must possess leadership qualities, potential for success in college and involvement in school and community service.
3. With your application, students must include: an official transcript; proof of honors received; school and community involvement activities; and proof of family income. Applicants must also prepare a one to two page typewritten, double-spaced essay stating the importance of Black History Month as it relates to education.
4. Recommendations must be received from two (2) teachers, or one (1) teacher and (1) counselor/principal/community service leader who are familiar with the student’s academic performance and involvement in school and community service.
5. A letter of acceptance from the selected college/institution must be included.
6. Based on the information provided within the application, qualified students will be selected to participate in an interview. The interviews will be conducted during the month of March or April by the Scholarship Committee.
7. The Scholarship Committee will make the final scholarship selections after the interview process, and notify applicants of the outcome.
8. Recipients being awarded the one-time scholarships will be recognized in a special awards ceremony hosted by McDonald’s St. Louis/Metro East.
