What We Offer

Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club programs are based on the Youth Development Strategy, which assures that all members have experiences that promote a positive self-image.Trained professional staff and volunteers provide positive adult role models and mentors. Nationally recognized programs assist youth succeed in school, stay healthy, pursue interestes in arts and sports and explore career choices.

When implementing the programs from the five core areas, the youth development strategy is used to instill in each member the following:
A Sense of Competence: A feeling that each child can do something well and be respected by his or her peers as well as important adults in their lives. The challenge is to find ways that assure ALL children that they can do something well.
A Sense of Usefulness: A feeling that each child has something to contribute and the opportunity to do something or a task that is of value for other people.

A Sense of Belonging: A feeling that each child fits in and is accepted just as they are.

A Sense of Influence: A feeling that each child has a chance to be heard, listened to, and can influence decisions.
