A good sign of any living organism is its ability to grow larger and increase in strength and influence. However, all growth is not healthy – the size of a tumor, the national debt or the circumference of a waistline. Each limits the organism’s ability to function at the maximum level.
We are fortunate that Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club has experienced “good growth” that expands our ability to deliver life-changing programs and services to more children in the St. Louis metropolitan area. This growth responds to the need to give more kids access to structured, supervised activity during non-school hours.
Research tells us the many benefits of these youth development experiences including improved academic success, reduction in juvenile delinquency and avoidance of drug and alcohol use. Also, young people receive a safe place to interact with peers, form positive relationships with caring adults, and learn about their strengths and explore their interests.
With good growth comes the challenge of maintaining high quality services for our youth members that are fun and educational. The Club is committed to providing exceptional youth development programming in a wholesome environment. We want more children to realize their potential, become productive, responsible and caring citizens and to have fun along the journey. Thank you for helping. |
