Programs & Services

Programs in Education and Career Development enable youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.

POWER HOUR
  • For Ages 6‐18; Aug‐May during the school year
  • A Club‐wide study period, Power Hour offers daily afterschool homework help with an emphasis on youth becoming self‐directed learners
PROJECT LEARN
  • FOR AGES 6‐18; Aug‐May during the school year
  • This comprehensive educational program reinforces school lessons by combining tutoring, school and parental involvement, education games and activities, and academic incentives.
TUTORING
  • For Ages 6‐18; Aug‐May during the school year
  • One‐on‐one attention in communication arts, history, math, and science, with special attention on reading skills.
READING ROOM
  • FOR AGES 6‐18
  • A quiet space dedicated to reading alone or in groups. A small library provides age‐appropriate reading material on a variety of subjects.
IMMERSION PRESENTS SCIENCE PROGRAM
  • FOR GRADES 5‐8; yearlong and on‐going
  • Fun and interactive studies of biology, geology, and other earth sciences.
TECHNOLOGY LAB
  • FOR AGES 6‐18; yearlong and on‐going
  • Club members increase tech proficiency through tiered instruction in software, internet research and safety, and even basic robotics.
JUNIOR STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
  • For Ages 12‐18; Mon‐Thurs, 4:00‐ 8:00pm; yearlong and on‐going
  • Hands on career training including volunteering, mock interviews, and career fairs. Successful participants are eligible to apply for paying positions at the Club.
CAREER LAUNCH PROGRAM
  • For Ages 13‐18; yearlong and on‐going
  • Encourages members to develop their skills and interests, explore careers, make positive educational decisions and prepare to join the nation’s workforce.
ACT COLLEGE PREP
  • For High School Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors; Oct‐Jan
  • Members preparing for college receive training and study techniques to improve ACT scores.
MONEY MATTERS and CITIGROUP FINANCIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
  • For Ages 10‐18; Fall, Spring and Summer Sessions
  • Learn to manage money, open and handle bank accounts establish credit cards and much more.
